Get started

Install the preview.

Download MyDataPreserver and load it into desktop Chrome. This is a guided-export proof of concept, installed manually.

  1. Extract the download

    Unzip the file into a permanent folder on your computer. Keep that folder in place while using the extension.

  2. Open Chrome’s extensions page

    Type chrome://extensions into Chrome’s address bar. Turn on Developer mode.

  3. Load the extension

    Select Load unpacked, then choose the extracted folder containing manifest.json.

  4. Pin MyDataPreserver

    Open Chrome’s Extensions menu (the puzzle-piece icon) and pin MyDataPreserver for easy access.

  5. Choose your workflow

    Requestors prepare instructions. Custodians load the requestor’s instruction file or start a guided collection. See the workflow guides for both roles.

Updating the preview

Keep your existing extension folder path. Close active guides, extract the newer ZIP into that same folder, then select Reload on the MyDataPreserver card in Chrome’s extensions page. Reopen the guide afterward. Keep copies of any reports you need before updating.

This manual preview does not update itself. Removing the extension deletes its local records.
